Mother & Sons (FIN)
Kerstin Stubb (vocals, guitar) developed an interest in music early on. At the age of nine, she learned to play the guitar. She repeatedly borrowed The Beatles Complete book with 200 songs from the library and taught herself to play many of them. At eleven years old, she joined The Beatles Fan Club with her twin brother, who also loved The Beatles. The year was 1973, and they received three genuine A5 photographs of John, Paul, George, and Ringo delivered to their family’s mailbox. It felt significant at the time.
Since the late 1970s, Kerstin has sung in various dance bands and other groups. She performs troubadour-style with ballads, light pop, jazz, and bossa nova.
Her sons, Oscar and Oliver Tschernij, have been highly rhythmic since childhood. The kitchen table and most surfaces in the home served as drum material during their early years. Today, Oliver plays drums and keyboards in She’s Leaving Home (and many other bands), and Oscar plays for personal enjoyment, bringing out the cajón when his musical spirit calls.
Beatles songs have been translated into many languages and sung in Swedish by Monica Zetterlund, Siw Malmkvist, Sylvia Vrethammar, and many others. This provides a unique perspective on the classic Beatles melodies and demonstrates the global impact of their music.
Kerstin is now performing for the first time with her sons under the name Mother & Sons.
